Miles Apart
“Can miles truly separate you from friends…. If you want to be with someone you love, aren’t you already there?” ~Richard Bach

If you love someone that you can't see everyday whether it be a friend, a partner, or a family member does the physical distance really separate you? If you have love in your heart for someone can that make up for not being able to see them everyday?
Long distance relationships can be difficult for any type of relationship or person. When you aren't able to see someone and be with them constantly you miss that bonding time that you would normally have. But when it really comes down to it, the people you love are right there with you all of the time. The love in your heart for someone can make up for the distance in between the two people. However, that love should be equal from both sides. Its hard to have a relationship without trust much less a long distance relationship without trust. Whats the point if you are worried about what the other is doing, or if they even love you at all or if its just a show. Trust is very important in relationships and without it, it's destined for bad karma!
The point is, with love its easier to be apart from one another. Its easier because you know that the other person is somewhere loving you just as much. If distance is an issue in a relationship that you are involved with, reevaluate what the problem really is and find a solution together. If you can't identify the problem, how will you come to a solution?

Motivational Monday
"Its what you learn after you know it all that counts."

Most of us have been through our teenage years and understand what this quote is about but there are always the people that kind of just get left behind when it comes to understanding the bigger picture. While we are young and without responsibilities we tend to think we are invincible, or we're pretty sure that we know how to do just about everything that there is to do in this world. I was lucky enough to be able to go to college and learn more about the "real" world in a different way, I was able to find things in addition to partying, and hanging out with friends, which was Social Work and Counseling something that I am passionate about. An occupation where I can actually get out there and make a difference. Not until this time did I really understand what this quote is saying, it's what you learn when you didn't expect to learn anything at all, when you have that light bulb above your head kind of feeling, like knowing what you are supposed to for the rest of your life.

The moral of this story is be open to new experiences, don't think that you know everything that there is to know, we as humans have the capability to continuously learn and grow, so take advantage of that. This week, take the time to learn about something that you have always been interested in but never took the time to explore. You may discover a new talent, friend, partner, or hell if you don't get anything good out of it at least you will have figured out what you don't like! Take advantage of the opportunities that appear before you!! "A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities; an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties."

"Live for Today, Plan for tomorrow, Party tonight!"
“Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance.”

You may not always get what you want in life, but what you want may not be what you need. Don't waste your time being regretful or angry or sad over things that didn't go your way. Make the best out of the situations that you encounter.. you ask for sun and you get rain, dance in it! We always talk about how we want to kiss someone in the rain or play in the rain but we never actually do it.. when is the last time you went outside and actually danced and played in the rain? :) Do it next time it rains!

"If life gives you lemons make lemonade" is the best example of making the best out of situations, why? you ask. Why be miserable? If you don't like your job, get a new one. If you can't get a new one then you have to deal with it anyway, so at least have fun while your doing it! Or if you would rather continue hating your life every time you go to work, thats your choice. (A stupid one! Grow up!) Either way make the best out of life, you only have ONE and you don't know how long you'll have that one! "Celebrate we will cuz life is short but sweet for certain."(Dave Mathews Band)

Courage
"Fear never does anyone any good. It's courage that gets you places."

I really like this quote because its straight to the point. Fear is what holds us back. Fear keeps us from accomplishing goals, meeting new people, or any kind of change. It's definitely easier to say that you aren't going to be fearful than actually doing it, but try just that. Push the fear out of your mind and convert it to courage. Turn your fear into positive energy.
Fear is easily expressed because it's something that we can't easily control, courage on the other hand we can. Take control! Remove all of the obstacles from your life's road. If you are walking down a street and at the end of the road is your dream job (or dream whatever), would you let a scary dog in one of the front yards keeping you from reaching that dream that could change the rest of your life? I hope you just said "HELL NO!" :) Conquer your fears, it may not be as scary as you originally thought, and if it is well, "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger" and you can't be too strong.

Have courage in everything you do, do everything with confidence and a positive attitude. If you go into a situation thinking you aren't going to succeed or you aren't going to do well, you simply wont. If you don't believe in you, who will? Remember positive thoughts = positive emotions!
Have a great week!

Happy V-Day!
"Love is the master key that opens the gates to happiness."
Many people debate what Valentine's Day really celebrates, where it came from and why its so commercially popular. There are several reasons why we might celebrate Valentine's day or why it is called Valentine's Day.

According to history.com and one legend, Valentine sent the first "valentine's" greeting when he was in prison and had fallen in love with the jailor's daughter who came to visit him during his time there. It is said that he signed the letter, "from your Valentine," which we still use today! Valentine was described as heroic, sympathetic, and most significantly known for his romanticism. By the Middle Ages Valentine had become a very popular saint throughout England and France, which is why some people believe that this is why we celebrate Valentine's day in February to celebrate the anniversary of his death.
There are always people that have something negative to say about Valentine's day but there's no need for that, if you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend SO WHAT! I'm sure you have friends or family that you love that you should be thankful for. Just remember Valentine's Day is a celebration of love, all types of love. It's not "Single's Awareness Day" either, nobody cares if you are single or not, be appreciative of what you have, not envious of what you don't have.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!
YOU ARE LOVED!
Peace, Love, and Happiness sent your way,

Quote of the Day
Writing ought either to be the manufacture of stories for which there is a market demand—a business as safe and commendable as making soap or breakfast foods—or it should be an art, which is always a search for something for which there is no market demand, something new and untried, where the values are intrinsic and have nothing to do with standardized values.
Willa Cather (1873-1947) |
