Are you a selfish person?

“The selfishness must be discovered and understood before it can be removed. It is powerless to remove itself, neither will it pass away of itself. Darkness ceases only when light is introduced; so ignorance can only be dispersed by Knowledge; selfishness by Love.” -James Allen

Recently I've encountered some selfish people, they do what they want no matter the consequences for anyone else. It really pisses me off when people act in this way because in my mind, no one person is more important than another. What gives a person the right to think that they deserve more than you, better than you, to be happier than you?

While I do stand by the fact that I do believe we should be selfish sometimes in order to do what is best for us but where do you draw the line? Where does it stop taking care of self and turn into self is more important than anyone else? What each of us does affects someone else in some way, how are YOU affecting someone else? Make yourself aware of how you are selfish and decide whether it is for the right reasons, if it isn't for the right reasons shed some light on it and "disperse it with love."

Leave me a comment and tell me what you are selfish about, do you think your selfishness affects anyone else?

Quote of the Day
Writing ought either to be the manufacture of stories for which there is a market demand—a business as safe and commendable as making soap or breakfast foods—or it should be an art, which is always a search for something for which there is no market demand, something new and untried, where the values are intrinsic and have nothing to do with standardized values.
Willa Cather
(1873-1947)
